The Great Steering Debacle, Part Duece.

I knew I needed to replace some leaking components of the steering system. The PS cylinder, PS control valve, and all four PS hoses were purchased in one of the original batches of parts. This is not the debacle. The debacle came in the efforts to remove said pieces.

Before picture. Notice the end of the control valve is still intact.
Taking the control valve body apart and putting the mounting bolts back in gave me a place to apply leverage. I was able to take a pry bar and put it diagonally across the bolts to twist the valve off the control arm.
With the control valve off you can see how long those threads are. It took me about 4.5 hours to get this damn thing off. Little did I know I wasn’t done yet.
The damn cylinder would not come off. I would need a torch and a lift. Maybe a cut-off wheel. Either way, it wasn’t budging. I beat the life out of it, not considering that maybe I shouldn’t do that otherwise I could distort the entire steering arm. So now I figure it would be wise to get new tie rod ends.
