The center gauge cluster holds the battery, oil pressure, engine temp, and fuel gauges. It also holds the clock. This is yet another project that I did not anticipate. I needed to buy a new cluster, then clean up and transfer all the components of the old cluster to the new cluster. The new cluster cost $450, the clock $280. The whole build/rebuild ended up taking about 3 hours and costing $800.

This is the old cluster unit. It needs to be cleaned and completely disassembled. Lots of screws!

These white rectangles are porcelain.

I took plenty of pictures for re-assembly.

This is the final stage of disassembly of the old unit.

The above picture is of the indicator lights for the wiper override and the door ajar warning systems. I had to sand these down, then put an epoxy on them to clean them up and they still don’t look good. These are nearly impossible to find new.

New cluster plastic shield and gasket to prevent gunk from getting inside the cluster.
