This is how it was at the beginning. There\u2019s a cork gasket in between the tank and the filler neck. It was gone by the time I got the car. When I filled the gas tank up past half way, gas would slosh all over. Stinking up the cabin. Gross. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the left is the start. The old cork gasket had fused to the tank and the filler neck, so I had to gently pry all around the circumference of the filler neck to avoid warping the tank. Once the old neck was off, I had to put a new rag into the tank, underneath each hole for the filler neck. Then I used a utility knife to scrape off the old cork, the rag making it so nothing would fall into the gas tank. It took me a an hour to scrape that shit off. My fingers didn\u2019t bend right for days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New cork gasket and bolts to secure the filler neck. Look how clean that looks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A big rubber boot and drain hose were installed next. In the event fuel is spilled while filling, the boot will collect it and the gas won\u2019t eat away at the cork gasket again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
